Michter's Toasted Barrel Finish Rye is made by taking Michter's fully matured US*1 Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye at barrel strength and then aging it further in a second custom barrel made to the requirements set by Andrea Wilson, Michter 's Master of Maturation. She added, "We picked rye barrels aged to peak quality for this 2020 release and then dumped each barrel, placing the contents of each barrel in a second single barrel assembled from 24 months of naturally seasoned and air-dried wood. The second barrel was custom toasted for extracting characters to create a rich and decadent experience of rye whiskey.
Tasting Notes:
Enhanced spice notes with delicate chocolate overtones balanced by some vanilla, honey, hints of roasted nuts and dates, with a lingering finish of burnt brown sugar reminiscent of creme brulee complemented by some smokey campfire highlights.
